TECHNICAL INFO

Closed File Formats

Our absolute preference goes to Certified PDF/X Plus V4 or Febelgra V7 according to international standards of the Ghent PDF Workgroup.

  • This file format currently is the STANDARD for the international Graphic market.
  • Only PDF 1.3 files will be accepted. PDF 1.4 or 1.5 related matters like transparancy JBIG compression, JPEG 2000 compression, 16 bits per canal images and layers are not accepted.
  • A PDF/X Plus V4-file is created by means of Acrobat Distiller 7/8/9/X.
Settings can be downloaded from www.roulartaprinting.be under scenario 'technical data'.
  • In order to control and certify a PDF/X Plus V4-file use the correct PDF-profiles in the PitStop Professional 9.2 or Pitstop Server 9.2 with the appropriate checking profile must be used.
Settings can be downloaded from www.roulartaprinting.be under 'technical data'.
  • Screenshots & downloads to create pdf files in QuarkXPress or Adobe Indesign (Direct Export to PDF), you can find here.

Attention : also called joboptions in InDesign 4 (CS 2). Because of the central management of the joboptions, you will see them as well in Distiller 7/8/9/X as in all CS 2/CS 3/CS 4/CS 5 applications, but it is very important to select the correct joboptions specific for InDesign CS 2/CS 3/CS 4/CS 5 and not to use those from Distiller 7/8/9/X in InDesign CS 2/CS 3/CS 4/CS 5 !!!
Therefore a clear distinction in the naming of the joboptions is made:
_1v4.joboptions = only to be used in Distiller 7/8/9/X
_1v4_IND4.joboptions = only to be used for InDesign CS 2/CS 3/CS 4/CS 5 direct export.

  • Images should be enclosed with the PDF as High Resolution TIFF, JPEG or EPS CMYK. All other colour spaces such as Lab, RGB... are not supported.
Spot colours must be converted to CMYK before the PDF/X Plus V4 is created.
  • All used fonts must be enclosed within the PDF.
  • Preferably a separate PDF with a unique name has to be created for each page.
  • For the delivering of other closed formats it is best to contact us.

Open File Formats

  • We support the most used layout programs. If there is any doubt, please contact us.
  • A Certified PDF/X Plus V4 will be created by our services and therefore this will result in an additional cost.

Colour Proofs

  • Material ready for printing has to be delivered to Roularta Printing as a digital file with a colour proof.
  • The delivered proofs must be exactly the same as the material on the digital carrier: the name of the file, the date and the hour of the proof must be identical to those on the file. A Ugra Fogra strip is added to colour proofs. In addition, the colour proof clearly mentions the simulated profile.
  • If no colourfast proofs are delivered, we will print on the right density.
  • On demand colourfast proofs can be made by our services.
  • For each change of language, colour or black, a separate faultless fullscale proof has to be delivered.

Please enquire if your printing is performed on a newspaper or a magazine web offset press.
