The stylish luxury of Sabato
Sabato is the sophisticated luxury magazine that can be found as a supplement to the weekend newspapers De Tijd and L’Echo, both editions of Mediafin. With themes such as food, design architecture, fashion and travel, Sabato unambiguously positions itself as a top player in the luxury segment. The fact that Sabato is not a weekday magazine is also shown by the fact that every year the editors come out with four extra-thick special editions. These storage issues are laid out in landscape format, “oblong” in technical jargon, and finished with a straight spine. There is also a special “summer edition” with a compilation of articles from the past year. It is Roularta Printing that has been responsible for the production of this real showpiece since 2020. ‘We are particularly satisfied with the cooperation and the printing quality of Roularta Printing,’ says Olivier Ditroia, Managing Editor at Mediafin.
Flexibility at all levels
‘We can particularly appreciate Roularta Printing’s far-reaching flexibility,’ underlines Olivier Ditroia. “One example. This year, the public holiday of 11 November fell on a Friday, the closing day for delivering files to the printer. Just at that time, we put the finishing touches to an extra-thick issue. Exceptionally, the print shop provided extra people on Saturdays to process our files and start production.” This flexibility manifests itself not only in the service but equally in the production itself. ‘Occasionally, we work on a special paper quality, a different format or we get requests from advertisers to create a cover in tabernacle fold, for example.’
Constant quality
About the printing quality, Olivier Ditroia is very satisfied. “A printing process is not always easy. Moreover, we have recently been struggling with a scarcity of raw materials and rising paper prices. Nevertheless, Roularta Printing consistently delivers a very solid quality.”
A partner in sustainability
Roularta Printing has long positioned itself as a sustainable and ecological printing company. Is that an added value for a magazine like Sabato? “Within Mediafin, too, we are fully engaged in sustainability. We have set up a process to gather all parameters and become more sustainable over time. Obviously, the printing of our newspapers and magazines plays an important role in this,” confirms Olivier Ditroia.
Sabato is, even more than a daily newspaper, a real print product.
A global offering
The future for Sabato? “Our readership is a demanding business audience, a target group with high digital literacy. We are therefore fully committed to digitalisation, not only for De Tijd and L’Echo but also for Sabato. But it is both-and. We also continue to invest heavily in a luxury print product for our readers. What’s more, the volume of Sabato is constantly increasing, even exceeding 200 pages for the special editions. Sabato is, even more than the daily newspaper, a real print product.”
Our circulation is rising and Sabato’s volume is also steadily increasing.
Vibrant and determined
“Sabato is constantly evolving based on the expectations of our target audience. Our editorial team is constantly polishing new sections and ideas and the magazine also received a handsome restyling last year,” Olivier Ditroia outlines. It may be clear: Sabato is alive and kicking and Mediafin is determined to ensure the top position of this leading luxury magazine in the years to come. And in doing so, the editors can count on the unfailing dedication of Roularta Printing as their professional partner for production.
